My Great-Aunt Melvie always had a container of her decadent, fudgy, chewy brownies to offer to her guests and to give as gifts. She was well-known in her community for her brownies. They were loaded with coconut and pecans and were absolutely divine. I dreamt as a child that they should be famous someday. I would have told you when I was a little girl that I didn’t like coconut unless it was in Aunt Melvie Brownies! My Great-Aunt shared her recipe with me as a child and I have been making them ever since. I have adapted the base brownie batter recipe to develop several other varieties of brownies. Try all kinds and find your favorite! Aunt Melvie Brownies come in an 8x8 pan. They are packaged attractively and make a wonderful gift. They are baked fresh on the morning of pick up day! They stay good for many many days, if they last that long! One of my uncles insists that he prefers them a few days old because they seem to become even softer!
