We can't say this jelly will make you beautiful but it certainly is interesting! The bright fuschia colored berries of the native American Beautyberry shrub (a member of the verbena family) make a lovely rose-colored jelly with a flavor that seems to vary with individual palates, having been described as akin to a mild elderberry flavor, reminiscent of rose petals, grape or even wild blackberry. It has no known medicinal qualities but American Indians did make a tea from the berries that was used to treat illnesses. Tell us what you think of it!
