Ready now!!This yummy fruitcake originated from my grandmother (who probably got it from her mother). True, over the years, I have tweaked the original recipe but the basic flavor has remained the same. First we start with soaking the fruits & pecans with a good quality bourbon plus orange juice. This sits for a week or so and then we make the batter and bake the cake. This is truly a FRUIT cake, as there is very little cake - just enough to hold it together. The spices are not overwhelming. After baking, we carefully age the cakes with more bourbon. This is truly a delicious fruitcake - everyone I have ever shared it with has wanted the recipe.
