I have never had hens that laid during the cold, but these girls are!! Maybe because they are living "the chicken dream" - never caged, fresh water, lots of grass and bugs, daily dose of lay pellets, and a comfortable, clean chicken mansion to roost in. Eggs are varying shades of brown with a few chocolate and dark green ones thrown in.

Our hens free range on 40 acres of pasture and only put up at night for their safety. Our laying hens are Amerucana, Isa Brown, California Whites, Golden Comets, BSL, Easter Eggers, Rhode Island Reds and Wynadotte, so we have eggs of all colors. Most range from medium to large eggs but we sometimes get some extra large eggs.
