Hey everyone, welcome to another market week!

A big thank you to everyone who came out to support our Pies for Pavement fundraiser with the McElroy House! I think we sold out of all of our pies within about 25 minutes!! If you weren’t able to get a pie this around, don’t worry! We are going to have another pie event soon…probably before Thanksgiving! Look out for an announcement about this in the near future.

A quick reminder that our RCM Soap Making Workshop is this Thursday (Oct. 24th) from 5:30-6:30 at All Saints Church Kitchen. Workshop tickets are available on the market for $5.00; be sure to add a ticket to your order this week to reserve a spot. There are some spots left for the workshop. Be sure to get your ticket soon!

This Thursday also marks the start of Food Day 2013. We’ll be celebrating here at RCM, and we will also be co-hosting an event at Arkansas Tech University starting at 11:00 a.m. in the middle of campus at the Bell Tower. If you have the chance, come out and join us for this Food Day celebration! Never heard of Food Day? Check out the Food Day website and learn what they are all about.

We’ll also be hosting Kristin Foster of Homemade To Go this Thursday. She is bringing samples of her products for everyone to try! Be sure to look for her when you arrive for pick-up!

We want to welcome Bluebird Hill Berry Farm to RCM. They are our newest addition to the market! They are adding lots of beef products, baked goods, homemade sauces and salsas, blueberries, and CHEESE: Colby cheese, white and yellow cheddar cheese, and jalapeno cheddar cheese! Bluebird Hill Berry Farm will also be offering eggs, jams, and fabric items and embroidery. Be sure to check out all of these great new products!

RCM Order Reminder

Just a friendly reminder that we will be closing for orders tonight at 10:00 p.m.—Still plenty of time to place your orders!

If you’ve missed our previous announcements via email and/or Facebook, we have a busy next couple of weeks! This Thursday is the Pies for Pavements fundraiser during the market pick-up from 4:00-6:30, presented by the McElroy House. A little bit about the event:

In many ways food and stories are inseparable. And in this region marked by the foothills of the Ozarks, the edges of the Ouachita Mountains, and the banks in the River Valley, we really like to make pies. As part of our Pies for Pavement Fundraiser, we have been asking area pie makers to tell us the stories behind their pies. So read on to hear more about these regional pies and how these pie makers learned to make them! When you buy a pie you’ll be supporting the work of the McElroy House: Organization for Folklife, Oral History and Community Action. This “Pies for Pavement” project will help us fund our community center and green parking lot, which will serve as a working example of green design in low-income areas.

Come join us for this great cause on Thursday!

Next week, October 24th is Food Day 2013 as well as our RCM Soap Making Workshop, given by Dr. Steve Gann of Arkansas Tech. Tickets are available on the market for only $5.00, and you don’t need to bring anything, except yourselves! Be sure to sign up quick, spots are filling up!

Regional Pies & Stories

Hello RCM Community!

We have a very cool opportunity from the McElroy House this Thursday during market time!

Check out the stories behind the pies here: McElroy House

You will be able to purchase the pies to help this project on Thursday October 17th (this Thursday) during market pick up time! Tell everyone you know!

This is a neat opportunity to learn about the pie makers and to try some delicious pie! We hope to see you all out in big numbers to support this cause!

As always, thank you so very much for your continued support for RCM and all that we do!
