We are excited to participate in the Double up Food Bucks program this year and can’t wait to help people get more amazing local produce! Make sure you check out The Fortunate Mushroom’s fresh mushrooms this week and take a look at Victoria’s Little Bread House’s new scone flavors, focaccias and small sourdough boule! Maple Brook Bakery is working on a gluten-free sourdough; watch for her new addition! The veggie category is still pretty sparse but, with nice weather like this, it is sure to be coming along soon!! Pine Ridge Gardens has a few lovely green things as well as some amazing live plants and fresh herbs! Have you tried homemade granola from Granola With Love? it’s another great item in the baked goods category! Michael’s Garden has a fresh batch of Blackberry Pear jam to go with all those baked goods and there are plenty of fresh eggs from our wonderful vendors! The candy category is loaded with goodies; Goody Gang has a variety of freeze-dried treats with Valentine themed packaging, Meadowlark is offering chocolate pralines and both Maple Brook and Kaitlyn’s Sweets and Treats have delicious fudge! Treat Street Pet Bakery has cute treats for your four-legged friends. Rural Route honey is a sweet gift for someone special and there are lots of great flavors to choose from in the Jams and Jellies category, as well! You can find jelly and jams packaged in seasonal gift boxes in the Gift Baskets category or surprise someone with Drewry’s mystery gift box! Treat your sweetie with custom cupcakes from Kaitlyn’s Sweets and Treats or her cookies with a kiss! Besides the fresh apples (which are always a great treat!), Drewry’s candles make wonderful gifts and they all smell amazing! Maybe a steak dinner will warm your sweetie’s heart? We have sunshine! Finally! While you are out enjoying the lovely weather today don’t forget to order from RCM before 10 PM! Maybe some sliced pork belly from Bluff Top, New York Strip steaks from R&D, beef short ribs from Michael’s Garden or a pork roast from Porch Swing Farms will fill your belly! We have several flavors of delicious sausage both beef and pork; it’s not just for breakfast! Wax melts or candles from Drewry can have your home smelling like spring or create a relaxing atmosphere; their clean-burning candles are sure to come in a scent that you will love! I believe a comparison of local products with large grocery stores will show that our prices are quite comparable! Plus, if you shop RCM you get very fresh food with a local story! We love providing a platform for the amazing local makers and producers and helping them spread the word about local foods! Get baked goods without preservatives, meats without dyes and additives and eggs fresh from the farm! Our vendors make jams and jellies with fruits that are in season and harvest vegetables sometimes just a couple of hours before they are delivered to you! The improving weather should be good for helping the growing things recover from the cold… so, hopefully, more fresh produce will be returning soon! In the meantime, fill your freezer with local meats, stock up on fresh eggs, sample the huge variety of baked goods and try a new flavor of jam or jelly! Maple Brook Bakery will be doing a pop-up during order pick-up at this week’s market; be sure you sample some of her goodies! Check out Isn’t She Sweet’s chopped apple bread, Cecelia’s artisan sourdough, Maple Brook’s bagels and pretzels, Victoria’s sourdough baguette, Pleasant View’s wheat sandwich bread, Kaitlyn’s selection of cookies and cupcakes and so much more! The Fortunate Mushroom still has some beautiful fresh mushrooms available and Wild Hare Nursery has handcrafted pasta to create amazing meals with! Our growers have plenty of fresh eggs and JPB Feathery friends still has goose eggs if you want to try something different! Beat the winter blues with some sweet local honey from Rural Route, try some apple-pear butter from Wild Hare or spread some sunshine on your toast with orange marmalade from Lucky Star. Stock up on ground beef from C3 Beef or R&D, savor some ribeye steaks or pork ribs from Bluff Top or use those delicious baked goods to craft some sandwiches with sliced ham from Porch Swing Farms! There’s plenty of awesome meats to plan warm meals and baked goods for any occasion! Brew a cup of Retro Roasts coffee or a cup of tea from locally grown plants to warm you up. Welcome our newest vendor Granola with Love to the RCM family and look for their homemade granola in the baked goods category! Maple Brook Bakery has been busy this week with the addition of several new products that include bagels, buns and banana bread! Kaitlyn’s Sweets and Treats is offering a new birthday cake flavored cookie and her decorated sugar cookies are great for any occasion! Get farm fresh eggs from our awesome egg vendors and taste the difference! Don’t forget the fresh apples from Drewry and the local honey from Rural Route! Last week was pretty tough for all the growing things… hopefully, we will have more items in the vegetable category as everything has a chance to recover from the weather a little more!
