Lauris nobilis - Mediterranean Bay tree. These are only marginally hardy here outside but you can keep it in a pot for years, just increasing the size of the pot yearly. Fresh bay leaves are so much better than what you buy at the store in bottles. If you have a sheltered place at your home, you could try growing it outside & protecting it when the temperatures drop too much. Evergreen
